The Court issued a reminder, ordering the Attorney General to provide legal advice with regard to the Vehicle misappropriation Case against former minister Wimal Weerawansa and former deputy chairman of the State Engineering Corporation Samantha Loku-hannadi without delay. The case was taken before Colombo Fort magistrate Lanka Jayarathna this morning. FCID informed the Court that investigations against the two respondents have been completed and its submissions have been sent to the Attorney General for legal advice. Accordingly, the Case will be called on October 23. The Magistrate permitted, former deputy chairman of the State Engineering Corporation Samantha Lokuhannadi to travel abroad. Weerawansa and Lokuhannadi have been accused of misappropriating 40 vehicles that were obtained on lease for the State Engineering Corporation and thereafter incurring a loss of 90 million rupees to the government.
