Prez agrees to an interim government and calls on party leaders for a debate

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, who previously said might consider an interim Government, has now agreed to form an all-party interim Government and has invited party leaders to discuss the same.

This was made known through a letter by the President today (27). Accordingly, The meeting is scheduled to be held on the 29th of April.

President Rajapaksa’s decision to form an all-party interim Government was based on requests made by the Mahanayake’s of the Three Sects, His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith, Religious Leaders, as well as those from political parties, and civil organizations, the letter stated.
